Segment
Segment acts as your high-scale instrumentation layer, while Planhat provides the environment for commercial execution. By establishing this connection, teams transform raw behavioral streams into objective Health Scores, automated follow-through, and an enriched data warehouse pipeline.
Unlock the power of Segment with planhat
Improve net revenue retention
Protect recurring revenue by identifying early churn signals within usage trends. Planhat ingests real-time Identify and Track calls from Segment to update Health Scores, allowing commercial teams to intervene the moment a user’s engagement patterns shift.
Shorten time to value
Accelerate implementation by mapping behavioral events to implementation milestones. Operations teams use Identify calls to automatically match or create End Users in Planhat, ensuring implementation teams track first-value milestones without manual record updates.
Increase process governance
Standardize cross-system coordination by routing all customer signals through a single operating model. Use Segment Group calls to populate Company Metrics automatically, ensuring that every account owner follows a governed response model when usage levels change.
Improve commercial predictability
Improve revenue forecasts by blending behavioral truth with contract data. Planhat pushes static CRM and revenue context back into Segment’s warehouse flow, enabling leadership to perform deep analysis that correlates long-term usage trends with realized NRR.
how it works
Flow & configuration
Set up the inbound event pipe
Authorized administrators enable the Segment app in Planhat to retrieve a unique Subdomain and Tenant Token. These are configured within Segment to start routing Identify, Track, and Group calls into Planhat in real time.
Map event calls to customer objects
Define how incoming signals land in the Planhat data model. Identify calls provide user details for profile matching; Track calls land as usage/activity signals; and Group calls are mapped directly to numeric Company Metrics.
Configure identity matching rules
To ensure data integrity, Planhat matches Segment payloads using company externalId, enduser externalId, or email. If no match is found, the integration can auto-create missing End Users to keep the commercial record complete.
Enable outbound warehouse exports
Connect Planhat to your downstream warehouse by pasting a Segment Write Key into the integration settings. Planhat then pushes static CRM and revenue data to Segment up to three times daily, where it is forwarded to your choice of warehouse such as Redshift or BigQuery.
Manage technical constraints and performance
Teams can route specific events to Assets or Projects by including the relevant object ExternalId in the event properties. Note that the outbound CRM sync is scheduled for batch delivery, while inbound usage events arrive via a near-instant webhook stream.
